Legal Counsel - Labour and Employment Law

Mentor Graphics (A Siemens Business), has experienced growth in several its business areas especially as the number of acquired businesses and employees have doubled over the last five years! To ensure we offer a continuous level of support with the growing complexity Employment laws globally, the team is seeking Legal Counsel (Labour & Employment Law). This role will work with global partners to provide legal support within this specialism for global needs of the global businesses!
The role will:
  • Prepare legal documents, including separation agreements, policies, incentive plans, legal memos, responses to charges of discrimination, and employment agreements.
  • Provide counsel to human resources and executive management on Labour/Employment matters, including employee relations, recruiting and hiring, harassment and discrimination, policies, leaves of absence, disability accommodations, government audits, reductions inforce, wage and hour matters, and non-competition agreements.
  • Enthusiastically monitor and advise business clients on labour and employment laws across the U.S. and globally.

The Employment and Labour Law team is part of a wider Global team and will require global collaboration. It is a part-time role will be located at our Frimley offices, completing approx. 30 hours per week. Reporting directly into Head of Labour and Employment Law Group. The successful candidate will also have some oversight of litigation and outside counsel.
What do I need to qualify for the role:
  • An Attorney with law degree from accredited law school and be licensed to practice law advanced experience practicing labour and employment law.
  • Position requires strong counselling and advice skills, broad knowledge of federal and state employment laws, familiarity with international labour laws.
  • International experience required; Prior in-house experience preferred.
  • Familiar with preparing and presenting training, knowledge of online research tools, and the ability to address legal issues proactively.
  • Ability to obtain a restricted license to practice as an in-house attorney.
  • Strong interpersonal skills working with legal and non-legal colleagues.
