We are now looking to recruit a Project Development Engineer to join the team based in Rochester.

The Role:

The Project Development Engineer is responsible for the design, preparation and review of strategic Recycling and Integrated Assets (RIA) projects, as well as preparing the costing and feasibility studies for each project. Through the coordination of internal resources and third parties, the Project Development Engineer will ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.

You will prepare User Requirement Specifications (URS) for proposed strategic project development in response to any improvement, optimisation and growth opportunities in RIA. This is in addition to managing the tendering activities. You'll draft and review concept engineering design drawings, preliminary process flow diagrams and mass balance for proposed processing plants as part of the projects' development stages.

Additionally, you will support the Head of Strategic Projects Development in the preparation and update of the RIA business strategy.

Our ideal Project Development Engineer:

  • Track record of process design and development of projects from concept phase through project approval to construction, commissioning, testing and handover to operation whilst meeting cost, quality and time parameters in waste management or related engineering field.
  • Proven experience of full lifecycle of project development of capital project in the UK
  • Qualified to first degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering (mechanical, process, industrial)
  • Strong commercial and financial understanding of business case development and financial modelling
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, NEC3/4 and IChemE forms of contracting
  • Strong understanding of UK contractor market.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry, contract procurement, environmental legislation, H&S legislation and planning regulations
  • Excellent skills in AutoCAD, MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS project, Visio)
  • Well organised and logical thinker, self-motivated with the ability to work to deadlines
  • Strong communicator with excellent analytical and report writing skills
