Modelling & Simulation Engineer

Location: Bedfordshire

Salary: Up to £49,000 p/a + Benefits (Including 9 Day working fortnight, Pension & Holiday Pay, Life Assurance, plus more)

Hours:Average 37.5 hours per week across a 2-week period

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Modelling & Simulation Engineer, to join a world class business working within their Special Projects team. The Modelling & Simulation Engineer will operate within a systems engineering framework, developing the characterisation and simulation of complex systems using proven M&S tools and techniques.

The business is involved in the provision of technical support to long established UK and international stakeholders, but at the same time are embarking on a broad range of new, exciting and technically challenging opportunities. These opportunities are in a range of study domains including space based, conventional weapon systems and emerging commercial space ventures in addition to related R&D activities. There is a significant amount of work which will require several Modelling and Simulation (M&S) focused systems engineers to join the team to work across the entire spectrum of exciting activities.

Duties include (But not limited to):

·Development of Systems Engineering process

·Development and application of simulation tools to the prediction of system behaviour and performance as a function of design trades
  • Use of Matlab and Simulink for Modelling & Simulation development
  • Understanding the physics of the system and environment under simulation to support value adding results analysis
  • Management of Verification and Validation position and statements
  • Some Authoring and certification activities

Simulation & Modelling Engineer - Skills Required
  • An appreciation of Space systems, Ballistic Missile Defence or other complex Strategic Systems
  • MathWorks Physical System Modelling tools experience
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics knowledge
  • Operational Analysis knowledge
  • Experience of RF and/or EO signature analysis
  • Experience of RF and/or EO sensor performance
  • Experience of target tracking algorithms performance and dependencies
  • Application of bespoke and commercial tools for prediction of aerodynamic characteristics (e.g.: CFD), vehicle trajectories, aerothermal conditions and subsequent thermal response and survivability as a function of design
