You'll be joining the automation business unit which is focused on providing a local and dependable partner for customers' whole material handling equipment solution, to respond quickly and efficiently to their operational and evolutionary needs. Leonardo's automation business unit delivers a full range of systems and solutions for the automation of baggage handling in airports worldwide and automated handling and sorting solutions for parcels, packets, flyers, flat and letters. You'll become a Leonardo Technical specialist conducting conduct service and maintenance work, breakdowns and urgent repairs to support sites, you'll follow-up and resolve issues which are highlighted through the support organisation conduct service and maintenance work, breakdowns and urgent repairs to support site and provide maintenance troubleshooting on 1st and 2nd level plus provide support with proactive and preventative maintenance within a customer's site.

Please note this role is to cover maintenance 24/7 365 per year and will involve a shift rotation covering days, nights and weekends.

What will you be doing?
  • Conduct service and maintenance work, breakdowns and urgent repairs to support site.
  • Ensure that Company procedures and standards are followed and maintained.
  • Maintain good service and support to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Follow-up and resolve issues which are highlighted through the support organisation.
  • Demonstrate a proactive, can do, will do attitude.
  • Train members of local maintenance on Leonardo specific equipment
  • Establish, manage and improve all aspects of breakdown and repair and standby maintenance support.
  • Ensure that customer receives the agreed level of service and support.
  • Ensure agreed customer proposals and schedules are fulfilled to agreed company technical standards while working to agreed company health and safety standards.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

You will be an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer who ideally has experience with automated equipment (conveyors, Sortation etc.). You will have come from a client-facing environment and experience of mentoring and coordinating more junior members of a team. Previous experience with PLC and/or Warehouse Management Systems would also be desirable, but not essential as training will be provided. You will be eager to learn and have the ability to dig into technical problems in its own areas, at the same time maintain an overview on system, function behaviours.

Who would suit this role?

We're looking for somebody that ideally has:
  • HND/HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Completion of an electrical or mechanical apprenticeship or holding an electrical qualification or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience of working in an operational engineering role within a similar environment
  • Excellent communication skills and customer focus
  • Ability to work in a time critical environment
  • Computer skills - Word, Email, Excel.
  • Electrical or Mechanical biased.
  • Experience in Thermography and Vibration Analysis would be advantageous
