JOB SUMMARY

The post will work closely with the Operations Director and Essex Senior Operations team to play a key role to ensure effective operational management of the service and delivering on our business development portfolio. Develop innovative services, business models and ways of working to secure additional income streams.

The role will involve proactively identifying sustainable income generating opportunities for our client to improve the outcomes and experiences for both patients and employees. The post holder will work closely with clinical and non-clinical employees across the service to ensure a diverse and active business development pipeline that represents the values and ambitions of the Company. The role will maintain a contemporary understanding of the external health care markets, and in-depth knowledge of internal developments and priorities.

The post holder will need to develop strong relationships with the wider team enabling employee participation; the Company's corporate directorates (finance, contracts, communications & Marketing, information technology, human resources and governance and facilities) to ensure that new business opportunities are scoped and supported through from tendering to service implementation.

The post is based at Essex Operations team, Witham. The post holder will be required to attend in-service training and meetings at venues in Essex, and occasional travel to other locations e.g. Suffolk, Bedfordshire, when required.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Operational Management

The post holder will ensure the efficient, effective and safe management of clinics supported by the wider dental team. Establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with all members of the dental teams whilst ensuring the wellbeing of patients and employees.

The post holder will liaise with clinical and non-clinical employees at all bases across the county. They will be required to demonstrate operational / business management knowledge and experience.

The role will involve supporting the Operations Director in the effective operational management of the service, meeting agreed performance objectives including year on year clinical, financial and productivity targets.

Business and Service development

The post holder will be required to support the Operations Director to evaluate and analyse business opportunities, apply a solid understanding of business development and commercial techniques, and form excellent relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally. We are also looking for someone who has excellent writing and communication skills.

The role will involve horizon scanning, planning ahead and forecasting resources required for new tasks, ensuring these are delivered on time to high quality, multi-tasking and managing competing demands. The post holder will be innovative and creative in their approach, grounding business cases in detailed knowledge of the organisation and wider context.

The post holder will work with the Operations Director to create new income streams outside of a formal tender process and to identify appropriate opportunities to expand our NHS and Private dentistry and oral health provision.

Support the Operations Director by leading on some aspects of business planning opportunities that have been identified through the Company's strategic objectives. This will include understanding the context of the opportunity, market analysis including competitor analysis, market influences, detailed information on current and proposed customers, environmental and external factor analysis, resource and income forecasting, workforce, developing the marketing plan (including promotional marketing campaigns) in collaboration with our Corporate services.

Carry out financial analysis, with finance and contracts, for business opportunities which includes costing, resource analysis, estates provisioning and income forecasting.

Undertake robust risk management and due diligence within each of the projects ensuring these are resolved where possible or escalated if required to the operations director, and other relevant members of the senior management team.

Human Resources

Work closely with the Operations Director and HR to support workforce planning, including analysing, forecasting, assessing gaps, and determining target talent management interventions to ensure that the Company has the right people - with the right skills in the right places at the right time - to fulfil its mandate.

Participate in the selection and recruitment of employees in conjunction with the Human Resources team.

Undertake line management responsibility in accordance with the service line reporting structure; including appraisals, 6-month development reviews, objective setting, coaching & mentoring and performance management.
