This North Manchester based Housing Association has an exciting opportunity to join their team as the Senior Management Accountant / Finance Manager. The Job

The Senior Management Accountant will be responsible for the provision of an effective Management Accounts Service to the organisation and relevant stakeholders. You will be the Finance Manager over a small team responsible for the various service areas, including accounting for rents & service charges, completion of final accounts, budget setting & monitoring & control of expenditure.

Job duties include:
  • Leading on budget setting, responsibility for ensuring that a comprehensive range of reporting packs are produced, including monthly budget monitoring reports, & quarterly revenue and balance sheet forecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting requirements for Social Landlords and other accounting requirements, including implementation and compliance with pension accounting and reporting.
  • Make sure that robust processes are in place for the setting & calculation, billing & accounting for rents & service charges.
  • Ensure strong processes are in place for accounting for fixed assets and monitoring expenditure on new build development and other major investment activity.
  • Co-ordinate the completion of the annual statutory accounts for the Group, external audit of the accounts & submission to relevant bodies.

This is not an exhaustive list, and you will also be involved in any areas of change or review such as financial systems and upgrades, redesign and maintain all finance related policies and procedures and keep up to date on any relevant changes to legislation to enable assessment of the financial implications or risks to the group.

The Person

You must be a full qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, ACA) with strong all-round management and financial accounting experience. You will have strong team leader and management experience with the ability to contribute positively to the strategic & operational direction of the Finance Team.

You will have had exposure through your career to various financial packages, including implementation & upgrades to systems and be a creative solutions provider to operational problems, including the co-ordination of projects to meet targets.

Ideally, you will have experience in Social housing, but similar regulated sectors will be equally as applicable as the awareness and empathy of the social issues that might impact upon customers is key to be able to deliver a customer focussed service both internal and externally.
