BBS Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Senior Manager experienced in a temp position for our client located in Derby. The successful candidate will be a proactive and hardworking individual with prior Senior Manager experience within a role.
  1. PURPOSE OF THE POST

- To take lead responsibility in the Adult Learning Service for the management of :

- Accredited provision including maths, English, ESOL and ICT

- Non-accredited and entry level programmes

- Apprenticeships and Traineeships

- Employability and vocational programmes of learning

- Performance management related to funding targets

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

- To develop the adult skills, employability and vocational curriculum across the service in response to national policy, funding priorities and regulations in order to meet learners' and employers' demands.

- To manage the apprenticeship and traineeship curriculum and standards in order to meet national requirement, the needs of the Council, local needs of learners and employers

- To ensure that the curriculum meets the needs of the most socially and financially disadvantaged adults in Derby.

- To manage the team(s) in accordance with Council procedures and objectives.

- To ensure that all regulations and requirements with regard to the safe management and storage of information are met.

- To gather, analyse and interpret information relating to the performance of your service area with reference to recruitment, retention, achievement and success rates and to address any areas of under-performance.

- To take lead responsibility for partnership activity relating to apprenticeships and other curriculum areas including the development of and commitment to service level agreements and contracts.

- To liaise with other Council departments to enhance the adult learning offer and contribute to the Council Plan outcomes.

- To contribute to the strategic direction of the Service as a member of the Senior Management Team to ensure that the Service is responsive to all government initiatives and achieves the targets set by the Education and Skills Funding Agency and the Council.

- To participate in the service's quality assurance systems including the formal Observation of Teaching, Learning and Assessment and management of RARPA.

- To manage budgets associated with the employment of tutors, assessors and teaching resources to meet service demands in accordance with council procedures

- To take lead responsibility for the annual self-assessment review within you lead area(s) and the subsequent report and action plan to meet contractual obligations and meet quality assurance and improvement requirements.

- To prepare for and participate in inspections of the service by Ofsted.

- To promote inclusion and equality across the Adult Learning Service and support implementation of the equalities action plan, equalities impact assessment and to monitor learner performance to ensure compliance with equalities legislation and equality of opportunity for all learners.

- To act as the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer for the Adult Learning Service to ensure that all learners are safe and feel safe.

Additional Duties

- Understand and comply with the City Council's environmental policies.

- Comply with all Health & Safety policies and legislation in performance of the duties of the post.

- Work with information technology and associated systems in accordance with the City Council's policies & procedures.

- Comply with standing orders, financial regulations and Departmental instructions.

- Carry out duties and responsibilities of the post in compliance with the City Council's Equality and Diversity policy.

- Take part in the Councils Managing Individual Performance Scheme

QUALIFICATIONS:

Degree or equivalent professional qualification

- Level 3 or above ICT qualification

Teaching Qualification

- FE Teaching experience/qualifications

- Evidence of continuous professional development

ICT - ECDL Level 2 or equivalent

- Experience of project management

- Assessor / IQA qualification
