A unique opportunity has arisen for a technically minded Engineer who has the interest in developing into a Team Leader/Management capacity as the team grows

Our client's focus is connecting their customers with fast, reliable competitive hosting, boasting their own Data Centre.They have a genuine passion for the technology they use in order to offer their customers the very best products and services.

This company has significant growth plans and would like somebody who can share that vision and become an instrumental part of implementing that.Whilst a technical skillset is required, the focus will be on people skills, as this role will ultimately progress to grow and manage the existing team.

Initially the successful candidate will come into the business to learn and support the infrastructure and network and really get to understand the technology that serves and supports their valued customer base.


·Building resilience and preventing problems from occurring

·Ensuring fewer callouts both in the working day and OOH

·Creating and updating the procedures library

·Resolving customer issues via ticket/telephone and escalating support requests whenever necessary

·Managing and maintaining monitoring queues for all company and customer infrastructure alerts

·Review any alerts, tickets, issues to ensure any problems identified.

·project management of new systems

·Responsibility for managing the rota, out of hours (OOH) - 24/7

·Performance reviews on a quarterly basis, identifying areas of improvement

·Maintaining high standards from the whole team

Technical skills:

·IP Networks, TCP/IP, Routing, BGP (Essential understanding of concept and maintenance)

·Strong Virtualisation understanding

·Windows, Linux Server OS administration

·Understanding of Security principles

·Telephony / VoIP

Personal skills:

·Embracing an attitude of learning through thorough testing

·Strong problem solving and research skills, but humility to ask for help

·Positive attitude, hungry to search for a solution to every problem

·Collaboration and knowledge sharing

·Ability to remain calm in high pressure situations

·Willing and able to learn new skills

·Strong verbal and written comms


·Team orientated with the willingness to lead and build a team

Currently this role has a technical focus, further down the line, they would like the successful candidate to take on the existing small team and grow the team as the business grows, taking responsibility for the management of services, building and maintaining procedures and standards.


This role is part of a 24/7 cover and therefore you will be required to be on call via a rota which is currently split 3 ways which you will be paid a retained fee, an hourly rate for any call out and time owed in Lieu.
