The Corporate Finance division offers a full range of investment banking services to companies in the UK including M&A, equity capital markets, debt capital markets, corporate broking, balance sheet management and investor relations.

Central to our Corporate Finance expertise is the integrated approach that we take to understanding our clients' issues. Our team is based on industry/sector groupings and is supported by our M&A and capital markets teams. We play an important role as part of the boardroom advisory team on all matters affecting the company's development and growth. Specifically, we seek to establish a long-term advisory relationship with clients, advising on any planned strategic moves such as mergers, acquisitions and disposals and developing and executing appropriate financial solutions. Our financial advisory activities include advice on equity issuance, balance sheet restructuring, returns of capital and valuations.

The J.P. Morgan Cazenove UK Consumer, Retail and Leisure team is responsible for origination and execution of public and private M&A and capital markets transactions involving corporate and financial sponsor clients across our sectors of coverage. The team has a network of relationships with some of the most prominent companies in the UK.

Job Summary:

The Investment Banking Analyst role is focused on the origination and execution of transactions and corporate broking across the Consumer, Retail and Leisure Sectors. This role will have client exposure from day one and includes the following core responsibilities:

  • Assisting with preparation of pitch documentation, financial analysis and company valuations
  • Examining the strategic and financial merits of proposed transactions for marketing purposes
  • Building advanced financial valuation models with the support of experienced bankers
  • Completing complex analytical exercises for our clients across products
  • Assisting in the execution and day-to-day management of transactions, as well as providing day-to-day corporate broking services for our LSE and AIM listed clients
  • Attending client meetings with senior bankers
  • Liaising with other product teams (M&A, ECM, DCM, Leveraged Finance) and third parties (lawyers, accountants etc.) to deliver a full service offering to our clients

Essential skills/experience:
  • Prior experience in investment banking and/or corporate finance is essential
  • True passion for the Consumer, Retail Leisure industries

  • Outstanding modelling skills with strong analytical and numerical capabilities (will be assessed)
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills

This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities.
