The Role

This is a great opportunity for an In-Life Commercial Portfolio Manager to join its team. You will provide accurate In-Life Credit Risk assessments to a growing portfolio of Commercial and Large Private Rented Sector mortgages, carry out annual reviews of these assets and demonstrate a full understanding and analysis of key risks attached to each asset. For larger exposures, this will require visits to the assets and meetings with our borrowers. You will also need to assess the impact on our risk exposure of the impact of new leases and tenants and sales or substitution of properties held as security and to submit appropriate recommendations to Credit. Furthermore, in completing Annual Reviews, you will also need to identify possible additional lending opportunities, thereby strengthening our relationship with our borrowers and aiding retention

Accountabilities include

  • Undertaking facility reviews across the identified mortgage book, including complex and high value facilities, multiple portfolio lends and those identified as potential high risk .
  • To undertake risk assessment and grading of customers in line with Bank policy
  • Ownership of post completion security amendments, utilising the required mandate to action, and referring to Credit where applicable
  • Working with servicing support teams (including Credit Risk, Special Servicing and Servicing Departments) to proactively protect the Bank`s position on high risk facilities by identifying action plans to reduce the risk of loss.
  • Develop our relationship with the customer. Identifying additional customer needs for further lending or cross sale products across the bank, liaising with the appropriate specialist and/or business line as required. Supporting customer retention.
  • To enhance existing, and to develop new and improved monitoring and reports to achieve improved quantification and stratification of the portfolio to identify risk and new lending opportunities
  • To undertake customer site visits to support the review process, and as required to support the origination of new lending/additional borrowing

The Person

  • Knowledge and experience of the commercial and residential mortgage underwriting process, detailed knowledge of property security and Property and Banking Law pertaining to mortgage lending.
  • Comfortable working in a regional field based role with extensive travel
  • Previous lending mandate/authority held
  • Understanding of credit and risk policies.
  • The ability to implement procedures and key controls
  • The ability to identify new lending or additional business opportunities with existing customers through face to face and other forms of customer reviews
