System Knowledge

Pay rates and Shifts

£11.16 p/h

Monday to Friday - 37.5 - 9am until 5pm

Job Description
  • Select and resolve calls logged with the Trust's Service Desk
  • Ensure Service Desk calls are resolved within set SLA's.
  • Installation and upgrade of the Trust standard PC's, laptops, printers and other peripherals.
  • Provide technical and user support on standard Trust software including MS-Office and Web based applications.
  • Service Desk calls that are unable to be resolved must be escalated to senior members of the team.
  • Deal with the safe disposal of equipment condemned by the Trust
  • Provide telephone support on all aspects of PC hardware, software and peripherals.
  • Work on specific projects as directed by the Senior Desktop Services Analysts and other senior Informatics staff.
  • Liaise with other technical staff in the wider Informatics support functions.
  • Escalate user problems or complaints to a senior member of the team or the IT Service Delivery Manager as appropriate.
  • Invoke appropriate fault escalation procedures as required.
  • Report on a regular basis to the Senior Desktop Services Analysts
  • Ensure work is carried out within the guidelines issued on the safe manual handling of equipment.
  • Report to senior members of the team of any incidences of misuse or unsafe use of IT equipment.
  • Maintain documentation and hardware/software inventories.

Additional Duties
  • Contribute towards the implementation of the Trust's IT strategy.
  • Assist in supporting IT and information developments within the Trust.
  • Ensure that the Trust's IT standards, policies and procedures, and service specification are applied as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the overall development of Informatics as a service.
  • Any other tasks requested by the IT Service Delivery Manager or Informatics Senior Managers consistent with grade.
  • Act as mentor to work experience and voluntary staff.
