What's involved? Would you like to support a person with dementia to continue to do the things they enjoy? We are currently looking for volunteers right across County Durham who may be interested in supporting a person with dementia to perhaps go walking or cycling, or swimming or simply going for a coffee and a chat. If you can spare around 2 hours per week at a time to suit you, for at least 6 months, this would be a great opportunity to support a person with dementia and allow them to stay actively involved in their local community. The society will carry out a DBS check for this role. There is no need for you to have personal transport. This role will suit you if you are.... * Have a friendly, caring nature * Have an understanding of dementia or, want to learn * Are passionate about enabling people with dementia to stay active and involved in local community life, and therefore improving their quality of life. * Have good communication skills * Are happy to volunteer remotely but be fully aware that you are part of a team * Are happy to volunteer within the service boundaries and follow policy and procedures * Recognise the importance of confidentiality and can demonstrate this in your role * Are willing to attend an induction and any associated training to assist you in your role. * The impact you'll make...
