Commercial Conveyancing Solicitor

East Dunbartonshire Council's Legal Services team is currently recruiting for a commercial conveyancing solicitor on a fixed term basis until March 2021.

The Council is currently undertaking a number of exciting, large scale projects including its housing and general capital development programmes, a transformation and digital programme and it is looking to drive efficiencies from existing contractual arrangements.

Legal Services therefore requires an enthusiastic, adaptable conveyancing solicitor to help deliver insightful, proactive support to these projects. Experience in one or more of the following areas is essential: i) acquisition and disposal of land / buildings; ii) commercial leasing; and iii) complex title reviews. A background in construction contracts / large development projects is also desirable.

We see our solicitors as experts in local government so a strong desire to work in local government and an understanding of local government law and practice would also be helpful.

You should have initiative, excellent communication, influencing and people skills and a positive and pragmatic attitude. A willingness to provide a first-class service to our clients in a partnering and solutions-focused manner is essential.

What we can offer:
  • A unique opportunity to work in an innovative in-house legal team, with the ability to:
  • shape how the Legal Services supports the local community within East Dunbartonshire;
  • be at the forefront of high value, exciting commercial projects and developments;
  • advise on a wide range of cutting edge, commercial legal matters specific to local government;
  • A friendly, dynamic working environment; and
  • Flexible working arrangements.

If you would like further information or wish to have an informal chat, please contact Mhairi Casey, Legal Manager (Depute Monitoring Officer) (Acting) on 0141 578 8029.

The closing date for applications is midnight 19 September 2019.

If selected for interview, interviews will be held on 25 and 26 September 2019.
