Business Systems Analyst - £30,000 - £50,000 per annum (DOE) - Edinburgh

Our Client:

Excellent opportunity in the City centre of Edinburgh. My client is looking for a confident Business Systems Analyst to come in and hit the ground running, responsible for providing software development solutions, develop software concepts and provide technical support.

The role:
  • Work alongside stakeholders to understand business drivers and identify system requirements
  • Collaborate closely throughout the iterative development process with colleagues within multi-disciplinary teams to ensure all have a common understanding of the requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Agree on the most appropriate solution while considering both product evolution and customer needs
  • Develop and maintain expert-level product knowledge and share with colleagues and customers as required

Competency/Skills Required:
  • Five years systems analysis experience of gathering and capturing the functional requirements for a large and complex system
  • Solid understanding of the full software development lifecycle
  • Managing backlogs using User Stories and capturing agreed system behaviour as structured acceptance criteria
  • The confidence to interact with and drive consensus across multiple stakeholders, including executives.
  • A customer-oriented personality exhibiting professionalism and enthusiasm at all times

Experience Required:
  • Computing or Business degree (BSc, MSc), or equivalent or relevant experience
  • A strong technical mind with the ability to quickly extract, synthesize, and relay, key information from multiple sources without becoming overwhelmed
  • Experience of using agile methodologies, such as Scrum, OpenUP or FDD (Feature Driven Development) to manage complex projects
  • Domain knowledge of IT Service Management or ITIL or IT Operations Management
  • Good experience in areas of IT Asset Management and Software Licence Optimisation such as:
  • An understanding of software licensing and license compliance
  • Patch management
  • Automated software deployment
  • System monitoring and alerting (Event Management)
  • Experience of using an agile planning tool
  • Knowledge of interface design for usability and user experience
