Market Asset Management (Darlington) Ltd is delighted to be recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join our busy market in Darlington. This is a fast paced role where attention to detail and team work are essential.

The main focus of the role is to provide support to the Finance Manager, ensuring all duties and tasks are completed in a timely manner.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Enter and code financial transactions
  • Input and monitor/schedule in accounting system
  • Reconcile invoices received
  • Issue invoices to customers based on services rendered and/or goods sold
  • Review employee expenses/timesheets/holiday
  • Overseeing employees uniforms/workwear
  • Make bank deposits and keep up records
  • Track expenses as they relate to specific projects and jobs
  • Validate invoices against items or services received
  • Check all financial transactions for accuracy
  • Compile monthly and quarterly reporting information
  • Monitor debtors and produce statements to ensure any overdue payments are highlighted and chased accordingly
  • Reconcile all inter-company accounts within sales and purchases ledges
  • Development and management of the procurement arrangement
  • Producing and maintaining an approved list of suppliers

Part of the role will also entail:
  • Support the market manager in his role
  • Provide excellent service across the market
  • To prepare and place orders, requisitions and produce invoices to support the needs of the department
  • To ensure all Health and Safety regulations are adhered to, including keeping all necessary records
  • To complete ad-hoc duties as and when required

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience with bookkeeping practices
  • Experience with accounting systems, fully competent using Sage 50 cloud
  • Proven experience and understanding of constructing well structured, clear and concise briefing papers and reports
  • Proven competency to handle confidential/sensitive personal information in an appropriate and secure manner
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of procurement and contract monitoring
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Possess or working towards a AAT certificate or another related accountants qualification
  • Ability to work effectively with senior management, staff, external partners and to establish confidence, trust and credibility
  • Ability to build and nurture good working relationships with colleagues and external contacts
  • Ability to analyse complex information quickly, reaching and articulating decisions with clarity
  • Ability to manage a complex workload and meet tight timescales


£23,000 per annum pro-rata (3 days per week)
