Due to internal promotion we require an additional Maintenance Engineer for our client in the Street area.

Candidates must have City & Guilds level 3 or NVQ level 3 in Electrical Engineering.


This Blue Chip Organisation are recruiting NOW for Maintenance Engineers, to join the engineering team in Street, Somerset. Working at a world class facility incorporating the latest automated technology. You will come from a multi skilled, electrical, or mechanical maintenance background, ideally in a fast moving engineering environment, where you are used to thinking fast and solving problems quickly. Ideally, you will come from a Material Handling Equipment background, or fast moving engineering environment such as Food, FMCG, Pharmaceutical, where you are used to thinking fast and solving problems quickly. This role is 60% Electrical / 40% Mechanical.

In return, this company offer a competitive salary of £40,000 including shift allowance, for a Panama style shift pattern (6am to 6pm and vice versa)

It is expected that all engineers will possess proven experience of dealing with electro-mechanical faults and preventative maintenance operations within a warehouse / industrial environment. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the candidate will be eager though safety conscious, with a track record of owning problems and taking them through to successful completion.

Dealing with electro-mechanical/PLC/Hardware faults and preventative maintenance operations. On site is Electro-mechanical materials handling equipment including - storage and retrieval equipment, conveyors and cranes. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor. Responsible for carrying out routine maintenance and inspection, repairs and breakdowns, and planned preventative maintenance. Working on automated storage and retrieval equipment, including conveyors and cranes.


Ideally electrically biased with some mechanical experience.

City & Guilds level 3 or NVQ level 3 in Electrical Engineering.

Hold an ONC / BTEC or City and Guilds in appropriate subjects Electrical & Mechanical Engineering

The position requires a wide range of skills including but not limited to the following,

* Good Mechanical experience including strip-down/re-assembly

* Basic Electrical experience including field wiring, machine calibration and system testing.

* Working against a timeframe to complete reactive repairs.

* Interact with on-site management keeping them informed of repair and maintenance progression and addressing their concerns in a professional manner.

* Service and repair current installed products and show hands on ownership of issues to achieve a quick time resolution.

* Ability to interpret electrical circuit diagrams and work with 415V motor controls.

* Appreciate Health & Safety considerations with regard to given tasks and be able to carry out risk assessments

* Mechanical aptitude including the ability to read assembly drawings

* Operate hand tools and be able to assemble parts onto equipment

* Ability to follow set up instructions, assembly drawings and check lists

* Attention to detail and exceptional follow-up skills

* Excellent customer service skills for both internal and external customers

* Appreciation of control systems

* Basic Understanding of Non Destructive Technologies and Testing

* Basic Understanding of PLC's and their function

* Pneumatic and Hydraulic knowledge beneficial.

* Computer literate with basic Microsoft Office skills.

* Willing to learn and adapt to changing role requirements
