In recognition of the key role the procurement function plays in the growth of this organisation, one of the world's leading defence, aerospace, technology and security companies, they are recruiting for multiple new vacancies across the function up to a senior level.

The role will form part of their procurement team, supporting Frameworks and Subcontract Delivery, with a strong emphasis on stakeholder engagement, and executing effective procurement strategies to support the profitable delivery of key defence contracts.

About your new role

The role is accountable for the ownership and execution of the subcontracting plan, incorporating preparation of the procurement strategy and documents, sourcing, data collection and analysis and, managing communication with suppliers and internal customers.

Managing prime contractor interfaces, risk mitigation (i.e. flow-up/down arrangements within prime contract) and flexibility within supply chain, including, supplier sourcing and selection through the make or buy process and appropriate leverage to deliver improvement, quality, performance, innovation and cost reduction.

Key accountabilities include:
  • Working with Project and Technical Manager(s), as part of multi-discipline team to deliver tasks allocated to the contract
  • Review developed customer requirements to develop robust commercial and supplier strategies in-line with agreed terms of the contract
  • Engage with Industry and Academic organisations whose capabilities may be of relevance and applicability to the contract, developing appropriate subcontracting agreements to enable rapid contracting, day-rate opportunities and, ultimately, appropriate sub-contracts
  • Develop and maintain cross-industry commercial network linked to the scope of work and requirements therein
  • Contribute to Industry Days with appropriate briefings, as required, on commercial/supply chain approach, contracting terms and conditions.
  • Develop/tailor subcontracting agreements to ensure robust but flexible contracting that is mindful of the end clients desire to engage with Small-Medium sized Enterprises, in particular.
  • Working with the PMs, ensure robust IP and TPI management including data storage, management and promulgation in accord with emergent demands of UAS CDC and its stakeholders/ members.

About you
  • Previous experience in a similar role within Defence or Engineering environments
  • Proven contract negotiation skills
  • Experience in a customer-facing role is desirable
  • Degree in a Business or Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
  • CIPS Qualified desirable, or working towards
