Full Time
If you're warm-hearted, open, and naturally caring, we'd love for you to join our team. As one of Scotland's top providers of premium in-home care for seniors, we're growing fast and are looking for a Salaried Bright Carer to join our Edinburgh team.

As one of Scotland's top providers of premium in-home care, our mission is to alleviate the stress and frustrations associated with quality care provision for family members and empower elderly people to live out their days with dignity and purpose in the comfort of their own home. Bright Care provides a complete and reassuring alternative to a residential care home.

Established in 2009, we now have eight offices throughout Scotland and England. We provide care and companionship for over 350 families and employ over 200 Bright Carers.

We're part of The Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies To Work For in 2018, and in 2017 we were named Scottish Care Housing Support Provider of the Year.

Working At Bright Care

At Bright Care we think care work can be different, so we offer a permanent contract. You can choose from the below weekly hours, with an annual salary of £20,300 pro rata (based on a 40-hour week).
  • 12-hour a week
  • 16-hour a week
  • 20-hour a week
  • 36-hour a week

You'll work a maximum of five days per week in shifts that are a minimum of four-hours long (and a maximum of 12 hours).

Your daily shift starts with your first visit and ends when you finish your last visit. The working pattern will vary but guarantees every other weekend off and will be given to you two weeks in advance.

For example, your week might look like this:

Mon (8am-2pm), Tues (9am-9pm), Wed (7am-1pm), Fri (3pm-9pm), Sat (8am-2pm).

You'll have a 30-days paid holiday allocation pro rata and the opportunity to work towards a SCQF 6 (SVQ 2) qualification. We also provide an intensive training course to ensure you feel skilled in all environments. This is combined with e-learning, and ongoing training and support.

A driving licence and own car are essential for this role.

Position Description

As a care assistant at Bright Care, you'll be directly responsible for delivering consistent and high-quality care and companionship to our elderly clients in the comfort of their own homes. Where possible, these visits will always be for two hours or more. We choose not to engage with council services, so all our clients are receiving self-funded care.

You'll likely assist our clients with:
  • Personal care, so helping them get washed, dressed and toileting
  • Light housekeeping, so cleaning, laundry and cooking
  • Going on outings, so grocery shopping, social events and hospital appointments
  • Taking any medication

You'll report directly to a Care Manager, and have regular supervisions and training so you feel fully equipped and confident in your role.

What To Bring To Bright Care

There are a few things that we're looking for:
  • We value experience in caring for others, whether in a professional or informal capacity.
  • Life experience is essential. You need to be empathetic and understanding.
  • You should have a positive attitude, patience, and good communication skills.
  • Commitment, reliability and a mature and proactive approach to situations.
  • A driving licence and own car are essential for this role.

This aside, Bright Care is a dream team, and it's vital that the position is filled by someone who is wholly aligned with our company values.
