POSITION: Embedded Software Engineer

LOCATION: Liverpool

SALARY: £35,000-£45,000

An electronics business in Liverpool is looking to add a 5th engineer to it's R&D team. This R&D team has doubled in size in the past few years, and with more customer demand for new product solutions an additional Embedded Software Engineer is required to join the team.

At present the company has 3 core products with a need to develop 2 more.

The company specialises in products and solutions for voltage management. This market sector is a hot topic given what happened last week with the National Grid.

The first product you will be working on in a sensor technology solution for rented properties. The sensors measure humidity, temperature, light, boiler usage, water and electricity usage. The data collected from the sensors will be sent wirelessly to a main comms hub. You will be integrating the companies 'electricity usage' product into the system design whilst also integrating other 3rd parties solutions (for temperature, light etc). You will then be tasked with working on the transfer of data from the sensors to the comms hub, whilst also developing the comms hub which manages and stores the data.

The second product you will be working on is a voltage management system for substations. This is a similar solution to the clients current core product, but this product will be working at much higher powers to what it does at present.

For this role you should be a confident Embedded C programmer who has experience programming microcontrollers or microprocessors. Experience working with PIC or ARM Cortex processors would advantageous.

You should also have experience working on products which use wireless communications to send and transfer data. If you have worked on products that use cellular technology (e.g. GSM, LTE) or low power wireless protocols (such as BLE, Bluetooth, Thread, Wi-Fi, Zigbee) this would be highly desirable.

This opportunity offers you the chance to work on exciting new development projects, where you will have chance to work on the full lifecycle development of a product. The team is talented whilst also friendly and relaxed.

  • Embedded C
  • Microcontroller or Microprocessor (PIC or ARM Cortex)
  • Wireless Comms experience (GSM, LTE, BLE, Bluetooth, Thread, WiFi, Zigbee)

  • Security Protocol experience
