Becoming a Finance Support Officer with Entrust (Part Time 3 Days per week and Term Time Only)

Entrust Finance Services is recruiting for a Finance Support Officer to join their friendly and hard-working team which provides support and advice to academies and maintained schools.

It is an exciting time for our team as schools continue to seek academy status or form federations and other trust arrangements. In response to this we have developed a suite of support packages which we deliver to maintained schools, academies and Local Authorities.

We are looking to strengthen our team by recruiting an AAT qualified (or working towards qualification) finance support officer who is interested in developing a career in the education sector and has a particular interest in academy finance.

There will be opportunities to work with the accountants to develop and expand our service. Entrust is an exciting company with a wealth of experience and resources to draw on.

If you have good technical finance skills, enjoy working with a range of people and are happy to travel, then we encourage you to look at the role outline below. What you will do:
  • Provide support and guidance on the operation of the school's financial systems.
  • Provide advice and guidance on the school's budgetary and financial control procedures.
  • Prepare the annual and multi-year budget plans for the school and advise on alternative budget strategies. This includes the main school budget and other school managed budgets, e.g. extended school budgets, externally funded projects.
  • Advise the school on current and alternative funding streams.
  • Recommend to the school how to implement local and national initiatives.
  • Advise the school or academy in the completion of financial returns
  • Advise on cashflow forecasting
  • Prepare annual closedown information for the academy
  • Set up, maintain and advise upon budget and organisation structures in the school or academy's finance system.

Your experience will include:
  • Full membership of Association of Accounting Technicians or Certificate of School Business Management (or in the final year)
  • A demonstrable ability to prepare and interpret financial reports and budget forecasts
  • Experience in financial closedown
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills
  • Excellent IT skills in Microsoft Office and finance systems
  • Experience in setting up and maintaining charts of account and/ or cost centre structures
  • Able to travel to support a diverse customer base
  • Suitability to work with children and young people including meeting the requirements for DBS clearance
