Brockenhurst College has an exciting opportunity for a Centre Manager to join their dedicated and enthusiastic team based at our Hengistbury Head Outdoor Education Centre. You will be working on a full time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £35,345 per annum.

The Hengistbury Head Outdoor Education Centre is a successful satellite centre of Brockenhurst College. The Centre provides services to community groups, charities, schools, colleges and the public as well as serving the College itself. The diversity of the centre is quite unique and should be an exciting prospect for any applicant to this post.

Main responsibilities as our Centre Manager:

- Ensure safe operation of all activities at the Centre for staff and visitors in line with College and National Governing Bodies' (NGB) policies and guidelines.

- Work with partner organisations and other stakeholders to promote the sustainable development of the Centre.

- Drive the strategic development and growth of the Centre and take a lead role in the marketing strategy.

- To optimise a programme of operations, activities and services which balances the need of all users.

- To ensure that all services, equipment and grounds are maintained in a safe condition and in accordance with policies and procedures, within budget.

- Co-ordinate groups and instructors in line with health and safety requirements and NGB legislation.

- Undertaking regular safety checks on equipment, tools and materials used to ensure they comply with Health and Safety Regulations and requirements.

- Plan, manage and deliver a financial budget that is acceptable to the College.

- Maintain a high standard of customer service care focussing on close networking with all clients.

- To lead, manage and train a small team of full time staff as well as a seasonal team and casual staff.

- To drive the recruitment, selection and retention of staff.

- Mentor and evaluate members of the staff team.

- To instruct outdoor activities.

Key skills and attitudes required as our Centre Manager include:

- Educated to at least GCSE Level

- First Aid qualification

- RYA Senior Instructor (Dinghy)

- Management of a water sports club or centre.

- Experience in coaching outdoor activities.

- A thorough understanding of Outdoor Activities legislation and operation.

- To be able to manage a group of Instructors.

- To be able to prioritise multiple challenges.

- To be self-motivated and organised in order to drive and manage multiple projects.

- Able to relate well to students of different ages and abilities including those with special Educational needs.

- The ability to work with Children, students and adults.

- Self-motivation, ability to stay motivated during long weeks and unsociable working hours.
