We have a fantastic opportunity to join our UK&I Chief Accountant finance team in a reporting and governance role. Reporting into the UK&I Chief Accountant, this role offers a great opportunity for a talented individual to provide support to the UK&I businesses, with regular exposure to the UK&I Financial Controller. The role also has regular interaction with the Finance Directors and senior finance stakeholders across the UK&I portfolio, including the UK&I CFO. You will work closely with the wider UK&I finance team and the Corporate functions across both the UK&I region and wider group. * Provide active support to the UK&I Chief Accountant across ongoing UK&I Corporate finance priorities and improvement programmes. * Preparation of UK&I financial reporting deliverables covering balance sheet, capex and operating cash flow * Supporting ownership of UK&I operating cash flow ensuring identification of key operational drivers and opportunities for improvement for discussion at monthly meetings with UK&I CFO & Group. * Supporting ownership of regional capital expenditure processes and performance (budget, forecast and actual performance), ensuring identification of key drivers and opportunities for discussion at monthly meetings with UK&I CFO & Group * Balance sheet governance. Conducting balance sheet reviews with each area of the business on a monthly basis and addressing queries from Group. * Provide technical advice identifying opportunities to bridge and balance the commercial objectives of the Business Units and Group accounting policy requirements. * Supporting with the coordination and management of the external audit process within the UK&I region. * Preparation of the financial statements for UK&I. * Preparation of financial reporting in relation to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). * Act as key regional liaison with the Group Financial Reporting team and the Finance Shared Service Centre. * Liaise with internal audit in respect of finance matters relating to their work programmes. * Active participation as a member of UK&I Finance Team, providing contribution to wider Finance priorities and initiatives. * Governance - providing support for a number of ongoing finance governance projects Could this role be for you? * A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) ideally from big 4 professional services background * Presence, gravitas and ability to influence senior stakeholders * Excellent analytical, financial modelling and problem solving skills * Proven ability to present ideas / opinions in a collaborative, credible and influential manner. * A continuous improvement mind-set * Strong knowledge and understanding of technical accounting issues - e.g. revenue recognition, capex Previous experience working with financial reporting systems (specifically Hyperion) would be beneficial but is not essential, as in role training will be provided.
