Guy's and St Thomas' is among the UK's busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for people in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham, as well as specialist care for patients from further afield including cancer, renal, orthopaedic and cardiovascular services. Guy's is home to the largest dental school in Europe and a £160 million Cancer Centre opened in 2016. As part of our commitment to provide care closer to home, in 2017 we also opened a cancer centre and a kidney treatment centre at Queen Mary's Hospital in Sidcup. St Thomas' has one of the largest critical care units in the UK and one of the busiest emergency departments in London. It is also home to Evelina London Children's Hospital. The commitment of our 17,100 staff is key to our success. We are one of the largest local employers and we aim to develop and support all our staff so they are able to deliver high quality, safe and efficient care. The 2018 NHS staff survey results show that we have one of the most engaged and motivated workforces in the NHS. We know this has a positive impact on the care provided to our patients. Due to expansion within the Evelina Pediatric Research, a rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and dynamic Portfolio Manager to join our team. This pivotal post will work as part of the core leadership team within the Evelina London Paediatric Research Department. The successful applicant will be, in collaboration with Evelina and Trust R&D leads, responsible for the successful delivery and further development of the commercial and non-commercial research portfolio within Evelina London through a period of projected expansion. Through the effective management of the Evelina London research study portfolio, this role will support the business intelligence of the service, thereby contributing toward the operational delivery of the Evelina London research local and strategic objectives. Key to the role is the liaison with existing, new and potential Principal investigators to ensure successful recruitment and delivery of studies and clinical trials managed as part of the Evelina London research portfolio. The formulation of narratives for performance reports, promotional material and the coordination for submission of external reports and regular internal reviews of progress is pivotal. The post holder will be working with a number of stakeholders, including clinicians across the Evelina London, Guys and St. Thomas as well as academic and industry partners nationally, therefore effective communication and organisational skills are essential for this role. Candidates should have extensive experience of working in a clinical research setting with good management skills and a sound knowledge of research governance. The ideal candidate must be committed to excellence in service delivery, with a strong team work ethic focused on positive role modelling and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
