Marston Group are looking for a Level 2 Application Support Engineer/Analyst Developer to join our in-house development team supporting and developing core applications and software solutions used by the business.

The development team work on systems affecting all areas of the business. This gives us an incredibly diverse range of users and we work with many stakeholders from across the organisation.

We use a wide variety of technologies but regardless of the tools used we want to provide the best possible experience to our users so a strong focus on collaborative and agile working is every bit as important as the specific technical skills you bring.

You will be based in our Epping office where you will have a flexible, agile approach to working.

You will have access to resources on-site and the opportunity to attend relevant training courses.

What you'll be doing...
  • Liaise with multiple internal teams by building strong working relationships
  • Take ownership of issues and see them resolved efficiently
  • Strong multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Good problem-solving skills to provide root cause analysis of problems and workarounds
  • Ability to read and analyse application logs to identify issues and escalate as necessary
  • Configuration management in multiple environments
  • Support application deployment during upgrades to production services
  • Ability to take ownership and become subject matter experts in various parts of the system
  • Work with analysts and stakeholders to understand requirements that drive developments
  • Write clear, maintainable and optimal code
  • Contribute to team standards promoting continual improvement in processes
  • Test and refine features throughout the development cycle

What you'll need...
  • Strong knowledge of C#, .NET Framework, .NET Core and associated technologies
  • Experience developing applications across a variety of technologies
  • Proficiency in working with version control systems
  • Experience of working in an Agile SCRUM environment
  • Competency in designing and making use of relational databases, specifically Microsoft SQL and MySQL, including design and execution of complex queries, execution plans, etc
  • Excellent problem solving, planning and analytical skills
  • Extensive experience of managing queries and problems
  • Experience of working on a n-tier architecture and complex systems
  • Strong communications skills with a demonstrable ability to interact and influence at all levels within the organization
  • Able to work on own initiative and within a team environment
  • Ability to work to agreed process, coding and documentation quality standards
  • A practical, methodical and structured approach to work
