Lamonby Recruitment have an exciting new position for a Sales Engineer to join a leading supplier and installer of compressed air equipment. This is an external role with the successful candidate to be able to be home based if necessary, with trips into the office as and when required and will be responsible for covering Dorset and Hampshire.

The successful Sales Engineer will be a professional, smart, eloquent and driven person who possess both technical and commercial skills. The successful candidate will have the ability to engage at any level, develop and build close relationships with both existing and new customers, be able to produce accurate and competitive quotes as well as fill out tenders and be able to source solutions to meet the needs of the customer.

The successful candidate will have 3+ years sales experience and will ideally be qualified in an engineering discipline i.e. C&G, BTEC, NVQ etc. Previous experience selling compressed air equipment is seen as advantageous but not a necessity, with experience with products such as; pneumatics, HVAC, capital equipment and engineering components seen as transferable.

In return the successful Sales Engineer will be offered a starting salary of £25,000-£35,000 (Dependent on the individual's experience and qualifications), company vehicle, a bonus scheme (after completion of probation), 28 days holiday including bank holiday and auto-enrolment in a company pension scheme.

Sales Engineer Role
  • Manage and interpret both new and existing customer requirements-to understand, anticipate and practically meet their needs.
  • Offer customers a product or service that best satisfies their needs in terms of technical specification, quality, price and delivery.
  • Provide pre-sales technical expertise and product education to new and existing customers.
  • Build and strategically foster relationships with key contacts and customers, to gain clear understanding of their business requirements and objectives, to ensure expectations are exceeded.
  • Proactively identifying and resolving customer concerns and issues.
  • Calculate accurate and competitive sales quotations and prepare tenders, proposals and technical documents to meet customer deadlines.
  • Follow up quotations in a timely manner to secure profitable orders.
  • Attend and actively contribute to Sales meetings to keep colleagues informed about customers etc.
  • Attend site visits and customer meetings in order to provide technical expertise and product clarification.

Role Requirements and Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years sales experience with experience selling air compressor equipment or other defined markets
  • Qualified in an engineering discipline
  • Based in Hampshire/Dorset area
  • Be able to compile requests for quotations / tenders with pricing
  • Required to travel to existing customers and potentially new customers
  • Possess both technical and commercial skills
  • Professional, smart, eloquent and driven
  • Full clean driving license
