ROLE: Embedded C Software Engineer

LOCATION: Ellesmere Port

SALARY: £35,000 - £42,000

HOURS PER WEEK: 37 hours

OTHER INFORMATION: Lunchtime finish on a Friday. Relaxed office atmosphere

You will be working on the development of machines for the sporting industry. The company is recognised globally as the Number 1 in their market sector, with their products being used at the Olympics as well as other prestigious sporting events.

The R&D team is currently 2 Software Engineers and 1 Electronics Engineer. Due to a large amount of new business, there is a need to add an additional Embedded Software Engineer to the team.

You will be joining the business at an exciting time, as they look to develop IoT product ranges due to customer demand. This is ground breaking for the sector, as radio meshes, updates over the internet etc are currently not available anywhere on these types of products.

For this role you should have strong Embedded C programming skills and be confident using microcontrollers such as a PIC.

They have products being developed on Bare Metal and Linux, so experience with Bare Metal, Linux or RTOS is desirable. If you haven't done Bare Metal and Linux, this is fine, as the Technical Director is happy with you learning and developing in the role.

There is the opportunity to work on GUI's that support the embedded software if you wish. Experience working on a GUI is very much desirable rather than essential.

In this role you will be given a lot of autonomy. The R&D department operates in a way that you take project tasks and you have freedom to develop and create a solution that you see fit. This means you get genuine input to the design work and can really see the difference you are making on product developments.

If you would like a role working in a small R&D team, where you will have opportunity to work the full software lifecycle, getting opportunity to learn and challenge yourself with new skills, whilst working on brand new product developments, then this is a role for you.

  1. Embedded C
  2. Microcontroller or Microprocessor experience (PIC micro is desirable)

DESIRABLE SKILLS: (as many of the below as possible)
  1. RTOS, Bare Metal, Linux (experience with as many of these as possible. There are product developments on Bare Metal and Linux)
  2. MPLAB
  3. C++
  4. GUI development
  5. Qt Creator
  6. Apache Tomcat, WebSocket, Lightstreamer
  7. IoT or Low Power RF device experience
