Software Developer

Permanent I 40 hours I Based at Castle Donington

Role Summary

The primary responsibility for this role is to develop & support various bespoke applications on behalf of MWUK in order to add value to these assets.

The role also involves some external customer contact - mainly to demonstrate the applications and to obtain feedback and capture any requirements from the customer. So the candidate must be able to present themselves, the product and ultimately MWUK in a positive light.

Key Responsibilities:

•Develop features and processes on new and existing software applications.

•Remain up-to-date with current industry recommended security best practices and development standards in order to ensure the software meets and passes and security checks that might be carried out from time to time.

•Support the development processes currently in place; such as ensuring that all code they write is under version control and changes are documented.

•Provide clear and sensible time estimates for tasks in order to set and meet customer expectations.

•Diagnose problems as and when raised and be able to suggest and implement solutions for these problems.

•Be able to organize and manage their schedule and task list for maximum productivity.

•Suggest and put forward ideas for improving existing systems and processes in place.

•Be able to explain technical concepts to non-technical individuals in a clear and easy to understand manner.

Ideal Attributes: -

·A good standard of education (e.g. 4 or more GCSE's or equivalent including Maths and English).

·An IT related qualification, ideally focusing on software development or database administration.

·Communicate effectively with internal and external contacts at all levels.

·Work to deadlines and within defined quality standards.

·Compose and produce standard letters, reports, presentations, flowcharts using Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Project, Visio).

·Commitment to work as part of a team.

·Willingness to work flexibly and provide cover and support.

·Train and educate users of varying technical skill levels with the software developed by Dimensions.

Required skills:


·ASP.NET Webforms


·Visual Studio 2015

·HTML, CSS, Javascript

·Subversion or other similar version control software

·Microsoft SQL Server 2008 onwards


· Stored Procedures

Desirable Skills:-

·Microsoft Azure



·Knockout JS

·IIS 7.0 - be able to deploy new applications as and when required
