The Home Communications Software Team develops and delivers embedded software for the portfolio of communications and networking products deployed into customers' homes. We also develop and deliver software features for deployment to those products post launch. The team reports to the Director of Customer Technology and is organised into a number of delivery teams focussed on a number of different work streams

What you'll do

As Software Developer - Home Communications, you will play a key role in an activity that will, from a technical point of view, propose, develop and deliver products and additional post launch software features for Home Communications products. You should possess a can do attitude, and have the desire to deliver high quality exciting consumer products that are delivered into a very dynamic market sector.

-You will work with multiple stakeholders, and enjoy an exciting working environment where personal development is a key value of the team.

-Software component development, Integration & debugging.

-Track new developments against an agreed development plan and provide status reports to the team leader.

-Track defect fixes against an agreed development plan and provide status reports to the team leader.

-Provide input into the planning for delivery of a new product or feature

-Provide technical input into software architecture design.

-Identify technical changes necessary to realise specific project requirements.

-Escalate, where necessary, project and technical conflicts.

-Contribute to technical investigations, identifying and applying creative problem solving methods and debugging techniques.

-Perform in-situ debugging at customer or field trial locations as necessary.

-Contribute to the identification, development and rollout of improved software engineering practices.

-Contribute to the specification and selection for any necessary tools required for enabling software delivery

-Work with 3rd party partners and suppliers to integrate their solutions into Sky products

What we look for

-Delivery of Embedded software

-Technical knowledge of Linux Architecture covering Kernel & Userspace.

-Software development in embedded products and systems.

-Expertise in embedded C

-Expertise in a multitasking embedded Linux

-Strong debugging network applications using network diagnostic tools \/ methods

-Experienced in the Creation and Maintenance of project documentation.

-Issue management experience using defect tracking tools
