PROJECT MANAGER - ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING -STOCKPORT - ELECTRONICS - FULL TIME - £45,000 (up to)

DEPARTMENT: Operations

REPORTING TO: Operations Manager

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

The role of the project manager is to ensure that customer expectations are met in line with business requirements. Responsible for the delivery of complex projects.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & KEY TASKS:
  • Accountable for individual projects schedule, budget control and quality.
  • Where required support the Bids team with the preparation of inputs to bids and proposals and engage in bid follow up activities to assist company in securing contracts
  • Attend customer sites as required and create / deliver presentations to support project bids
  • Responsible for validating internal order acceptance.
  • Working with the manufacturing team defines and implements effective and efficient delivery strategy; including, implementation of batch size, operations cycle-time, queue time and work order management decisions.
  • Responsible for maintaining validated schedule and CTC for their individual projects.
  • Engage in the execution of key KPI's to improve delivery performance.
  • Obtain required input from internal departments to include Manufacturing and Engineering
  • Maintain communication with customers and internal departments as to project progress and developments
  • Contribute to, and coordinate responses to technical and manufacturing capability queries from customers
  • Develop best practices and tools for project implementation and management

QUALIFICATIONS:

Educated to A level standard or equivalent

Educated to Degree level in an engineering discipline is desirable.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Must have experience working in an Engineering or Manufacturing environment

Have the ability to communicate effectively with customers and Senior Management in a confident and professional manner.

Proficiency in Operations systems, MRP management in the production of goods and services.

Commercially astute understand change impacts in an Operations environment.

Influencing skills allied to managing integrated projects in a challenging environment.

Possess a thorough understanding of the interaction between project, logistics, and manufacturing and engineering control systems.

Must be proficient in the use of PC based software packages such as MS Excel, Project, Primavera (P6) or similar management tools

Must be a self-starter with a positive attitude who is also strong-minded with motivational drive to overcome problems quickly and effectively.

EXPERIENCE:

Demonstrable experience working within Project/Programme Management environment, ideally within the high-reliability electronics industry with a Military focus.

Demonstrable experience in an engineering or manufacturing associated business is desirable.

Able to demonstrate people management skills.

Proven track record of achieving sales growth within a customer group
