Sports Coach (Casual) | Oak Tree Leisure Centre

Location: Oak Tree Leisure Centre, Mansfield, NG18 3RT

Working Hours: Casual

Salary: £12.85 per hour + benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen, as we are currently recruiting for a Sports Coach to work Casual hours as and when required between Monday to Sunday.

As part of Mansfield District Leisure Trust, Oak Tree Leisure Centre offers a wide range of facilities and activities, from gym memberships and badminton, to trampolining and gymnastics for children. And we've got a crèche!

Purpose of Job / Key Objectives

To deliver Sports, Gymnastics and Children's Activity sessions to participants of ages 4yrs-11yrs who attend Oak Tree Leisure Centre. Casual hours to cover school holidays and to cover permanent staff's holidays and sickness when required.

Principal Duties
  • Plan and deliver Gymnastics sessions as directed by the Children's Activity Co-ordinator.
  • To ensure that coaching sessions are suitably planned and developed for all people including those less able or with specific needs.
  • To implement appropriate Health and Safety policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe, effective, child friendly environment at all sessions.
  • To maintain detailed and accurate records of those attending sessions and to ensure that these are regularly passed on to the Children's Activity Co-ordinator.
  • To on occasion handle monies paid by participants and issue receipts for payment.
  • To undertake regular programme evaluation (i.e. Participant progression) as directed by the Children's Activity Co-ordinator.
  • To maintain current knowledge of Governing Body and other relevant agency's programmes, policies, guidance and advice.
  • To be committed to continuous professional development (CPD) relevant to the post.
  • To attend meetings as and when required/directed.
  • To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post.

Qualification Level

  • Gymnastics coaching certificate level 1 or equivalent- essential qualification (recognised with British gymnastics)

Experience Level

  • Previous experience of coaching a variety of different age groups and abilities.
  • Previous experience of delivering in a variety of settings including sports clubs and leisure centres.
