Melbreck Technical are working with a leading designer and manufacturer of special purpose equipment for the Aerospace sector who are based in Dorset.

As a Lead Project engineer will be responsible for managing & developing a small Engineering team. Oversee the innovation and development of new and existing products in accordance with the applicable design constraints.

You will ensure that projects undertaken are completed on time, in budget and to the satisfaction of their customers.

Key Tasks:

·To conceptualize, analyse, design and oversee the manufacture of complete products using Solidworks;

·To write test plans and reports, qualification plans and reports and acceptance test plans and reports;

·To release drawings, ECN's, reports, using the PDM system;

·To conduct physical testing of the prototypes and/or samples;

·To take part in the manufacture, installation and trials of prototype systems;

·To comply with all company policies and procedures, such as Health & Safety, Export Control, Quality, Security, Work Instructions etc.;

·To continually improve own engineering capabilities;

·To drive process improvement within the product line;

·To promote, support and participate to the culture of continuous improvement;

·To promote a culture of co-operation and high morale within the area of responsibility;

·To develop and mentor engineering team in line with development plan and career progression plan;

·To generate a Team Development Plan and Team Career Progression Plan;

·To generate resource plans for multiple projects and monthly reports for senior management;

·To generate project plans;

·To meet deadlines on tasks assigned;

·To perform any other task necessary for the effective running of the department;

·To act as the point of contact for the defence customers.

Education

The role requires a minimum of a degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Experience

A minimum of two years work experience gained in an engineering environment is essential. Experience of managing teams, or working on aerospace, defence or military programs is beneficial.

Skills required

Use of and experience of 3D CAD (Solidworks) is essential.

The jobholder must be IT literate with knowledge of most MS office applications.
