IT Systems Administrator - St Ives, Cambridgeshire - £35,000 to £40,000 + Benefits - Ref: J2432

We have an opportunity for an IT Systems Administrator to join an internationally renowned technology manufacturer. Although the company are a multimillion-pound turnover organisation in their own right, they are also part or a much larger Global brand with customers in over 100 countries. This allows them to invest heavily in their research and development, as well as their employee's personnel / career development.

As the IT Systems Administrator you will be working in a small team to support the entire infrastructure at their brand-new purpose-built offices in Cambridgeshire. This will include the installation, configuration, maintenance and support of printers, PC's, Servers (Virtual & Physical) as well as Network and Storage devices.

We are looking for someone who likes working in a small team and equally happy being hands with both trivial and complex tasks. For example, one minute you will be dealing with a printer jam and the next you will be building a new server.

As well as day to day support, the IT Systems Administrator will also be heavily involved in a variety of projects. This will include researching new technologies to enable continuous innovation within the infrastructure, right through to the implementing of the new system / upgrades.

This is an extremely broad role and the ideal candidate will possess the majority of the required key skills, knowledge and experience:
  • Experience in a similar role (ideally providing internal support to a multi-site environment)
  • Good knowledge of Windows Server (installing, rebuilding and backups)
  • Good knowledge of Active Directory ideally including Group Policy, DNS and DHCP
  • Good understanding of Network principles, ideally with the ability to configuring network devices such as switches, routers and Firewalls
  • Good knowledge of either Hyper-V or VMware.

Desirable (Nice to have but non-essential) skills include:
  • Experience of administering NetApp San Storage or similar
  • Knowledge of Disaster Recovery planning / Testing
  • Knowledge of PowerShell Scripting
  • Experience of administering databases such as MS SQL or Oracle
  • Knowledge of Web Servers (i.e IIS, SSL, Apache or Tomcat)
