Our client is a leading organization in the power generation market who are looking to recruit an experienced TCO/reliability specialist into their team in Dumbarton.

Key responsibilities:

Active participant in the Design Reviews for all new products, built or procured.

This role will support the Product Manager for the nominated product to determine TCO lifecycle costs for the BUCE using analytical models and be the maintenance authority within design reviews. Support operations team readiness for the new product and its maintenance activities

Uses their knowledge to influence and guide the design development to ensure maintenance, product ease of access and minimisation of total cost of ownership is fully considered

Ensure that the technical writers create the appropriate and relevant documentation for the new product to support the design and its maintenance routines in operations

Lead the cost assessment of TCO for the Product Design Reviews and Product Control Gates within the NPD process. To support this assessment, this role will review the reliability of nominated OEM sub components and make recommendation for their use and management of cost.

Support to Procurement Commodity Leads for TCO requirements of 3rd party assets

or protections for our clients's longer term ownership of the asset

Direct and lead the work output for the technical writers

Support and guide the technical input for the documentation creation for new and legacy product

Support the prioritisation and availability of resources to meet business deadlines

RCA technical support for Complex Warranty Issues

It is expected that on occasion this role will be asked to lead RCAs that are directly related to their experience. These will be occasional and by exception.

Programme management of condition based monitoring initiatives

Technical & Standards Development of TCO expertise

Provide mentorship for aspiring talent within the organisation outwith TCO group

Establish sufficient TCO skills within the business with clear career development opportunities around the group and robust succession planning within the function.

Form part of a wider technical group overseeing the improvement and modernisation of technical standards for maintenance and product reliability thinking

Indicative performance measures:

· TCO for new products at Launch, proto, pilot, production and field operations

· Effective cost management in operations planned/ unplanned costs

· OTD of documentation as per product programmes

· Continued development and progression and succession of technical resources

· TCO roadmap - reduction in TCO through management of planned / unplanned costs

· Continuity of engineering practices across operations

· Technical inputs for modernisation methods, selection of suppliers, and maintenance management

Person Specification:


Degree Engineer or equivalent with experience in a maintenance and /or TCO environment for engine led business

An excellent understanding of;

· Product and Application design within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment

· TCO and Maintenance best practice in benchmark businesses

· Complex Problem Solving

· Critical thinking of OEM requirements

· Matrix organisations
