Main Purpose of Job:

Support and assist the Financial Controller, and wider finance team, in the Group's day-to-day finance activities. Liaise with all departments (particularly the Reservations, Property and Marketing teams) to provide support with any financial tasks, as required.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Support the Financial Controller by ensuring day-to-day finance activities are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  2. Preparation of Monthly Management accounts to include all relevant schedules and reconciliations.
  3. Preparation of statutory accounts for filing at Companies House.
  4. Responsible for keeping the statutory records for all group companies up to date, including Confirmation Statement filing.
  5. Assist the Financial Controller in preparing for year-end audits, compiling and checking all information according to instruction in order to complete reports with ease.
  6. Compilation of VAT and any Intrastat returns.
  7. Ensure payments and invoices are accurately processed and in accordance with Company procedures to provide an efficient and timely service to customers and suppliers.
  8. Respond to customer or supplier enquiries where necessary by telephone or in writing after checking the relevant details from existing company records.
  9. Carry out routine administrative procedures to support the smooth running of the department.
  10. Work closely with all our companies and departments to support employees with any finance tasks or systems training within your capabilities.
  11. Supervise and support other team members.
  12. Work with the wider finance team to implement, track and report on all set KPIs.
  13. Maintain a good working knowledge of all updates in the finance industry to proactively suggest improvements to support the ongoing development of the team.
  14. Manage the positive image of the finance department across the Group by providing a high level of support and service, whilst building strong working relationships with all employees.
  15. Uphold professional boundaries at all times, working confidentially and with discretion across all tasks.
  16. Take on any other responsibilities or tasks that are within your skills and abilities whenever reasonably asked.

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

  • Experience working within a busy finance or accounts department.
  • Experienced in a range of finance tasks, including monthly management accounts, bank related transactions, sales and purchase ledger reconciliations.
  • Excellent IT skills, comfortable using computerised accounting packages and with good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. Fast inputting and processing capabilities.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Adaptable - flexible in approach and quick to learn, particularly in technical areas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to act with diplomacy.
  • Excellent communication skills, in written and spoken English.
  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced, demanding and changeable environment.
  • Ability to solve problems in a calm and methodical manner, and use own initiative.
  • Strong customer service focus, with a positive, professional and proactive attitude.
  • Well organised, with the ability to prioritise, multi-task and effectively meet deadlines.
  • At least 5 GCSE's grade C or above (including Maths)
  • AAT qualified or equivalent.

  • Working towards ACCA/ACA or equivalent.
