Bonfire Recruitment is working retained with a growing food production company based near Leeds to recruit an experienced Finance Director to working closely with the business owner.

The current business turnover is £20m and employs 100 staff within the business, plans for growth will allow the correct person to be strategically involved at a high level whilst overseeing an experienced finance team.

Responsibilities :
  • Taking full responsibility for the month end close including preparation of journals, balance sheet reconciliations, management accounts pack and related commentary.
  • Preparing regulatory reporting such as corporation tax returns, Group VAT returns etc;
  • Reviewing/preparing payroll
  • Liasing with the bank to ensure good relationship is maintained
  • Being the primary contact for the annual audit and tax compliance processes including preparation of all information for tax comps and audit files;
  • Preparing the statutory accounts
  • Reviewing consolidated weekly cash flow forecast and daily cash management responsibilities for the business e.g. reviewing and signing off payments, transfer of funds;
  • Preparing the annual budget for the business including liaising with department heads;
  • Providing information to other departments and other members of the senior management team to assist with making financial decisions;
  • Interpreting and communicating financial data to non-financial managers;
  • Providing financial support to new initiatives/projects;
  • Working with the MD to evaluate and enhance existing corporate governance procedures, internal controls and management reporting framework;
  • Responsibility for currency analysis for review by the MD before placing orders;
  • Responsibility for sales ledger and purchase ledger functions;
  • Arranging the insurance for the business, including managing the on-going relationship with the broker;
  • Other ad-hoc work as it arises from management.

To be considered you must be fully qualified, working at a Finance Director, Head of Finance or Financial Controller level within a SME manufacturing business (Food ideally, but can be FMCG, Chemical etc).

This would suit someone with large company and small company experience looking to be part of a growing business and work closely with the MD to deliver the business plan and strategic. This would suit someone who enjoys autonomy, challenge with a solid financial and commercial acumen.
