If you are passionate about sustainability and being part of the wave of change then this contract exciting project role should ignite your interest. Joining the company as the Events Officer you will be responsible for the planning, coordination and managing external events initiated and organised by the company. These events will be arranged to celebrate, publicise and communicate all the initiatives and their achievements whilst also communicating to key company stakeholders. This role is offered on a contract basis until January 2020.

What will I be doing?

  • Managing the event from inception to completion
  • Managing relationships with venues and vendors/suppliers, including caterers, photographers/videographers, stage and lighting
  • Providing full project management and logistics management, including registration, attendance, budget control
  • Knowledge of setting key performance indicators or objectives for the event
  • Work closely with the in-house Project team to plan, co-ordinate and create effective marketing of events, including relevant digital and printed promotional activities for target audiences, as well as PR/media coverage
  • Create quality briefings for staff, delegates and speakers
  • Assisting and supporting speakers and presenters, including booking travel, accommodation, responding to queries
  • Liaising with speakers and presenters to ensure that presentations are prepared in good time and are compatible with technology platforms
  • Responsible for creating and owning risk assessments for each event, including health & safety
  • Conform to all GDPR requirements in line with company polices
  • Manage the event on the day, from set-up to closing, acting as trouble shooter and problem solver to ensure events run smoothly and are a success
  • Where administration support is unavailable, complete logistics and administration tasks to ensure events' success
  • Ensure any queries or requests made by delegates or speakers at events or noted on evaluation sheets are followed up
  • Manage post-event evaluation and lead post-event debrief sessions with staff to inform future events

Skills required for the Events Officer

  • Demonstratable experience of large event management
  • Evidence of strong organisational skills
  • Evidence of effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a high-pressure team
  • Demonstrable experience of allocating and delegating tasks to others
  • Proven ability of attention to detail and attention to quality
  • Evidence of effective time management
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs
  • Willingness and ability to work outside of normal office hours and travel within the UK for events
