My client based in Bury have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Product Manager to join their Buying team. Reporting to the Buying Director you will be responsible for the pricing and overall promotion of a product category to maximize consumer appeal. Relationships with vendors and product range management will also be part of your duties.
* Create commercial range within product categories outlined in main job role
* Manage buying costs in, review & co-operate with costs out to sales and own product margin
* Prepare weekly departmental reports with views of critical stages from within the workflow
* Prepare quarterly range reviews and associated documents
* Meet product launch deadlines and product preview dates
* Prepare and maintain accurate buying data on product, vendors and supply chain
* Manage and control vendor terms in line with the company policy
* Work on shared management with Supply Chain of stock movements and production
* Work on shared management with QA of stock quality, ethical and technical processes throughout the manufacturing cycle
* Work on building vendor relationships and identifying new manufacturing avenues with the commercial requirements of the business at the forefront
* Work on shared management of brand approvals in line with licensor requirements outlined by the licensing team
* Manage the output of the graphic design team with the critical workflow stages for product development as the measure of the output and the PO/SO dates as the focus. Analyse data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends
* Devise long-term development strategies for product categories
The ideal candidate will be;
* Proven experience as category manager or similar role
* Solid knowledge of category management, marketing and sales principles
* Understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods
* Proficient in MS Office
* An analytical mind with a strategic ability
* Excellent communication and people skills
* Previous experience working with licenced products is desirable
Hours are flexible - core hours between 7.30am - 5.30pm (8 hours are required a day). Salary is between £30,000-£45,000.
