We are currently recruiting Head of Psychology to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke.
Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke is CQC rated 'Good' 72 bed service that provides an emergency admissions service for men and a pathway for women from low secure to rehabilitation including a specialist service for personality disorder. This beachside location, just outside Weston-super-Mare, helps us provide a quiet, peaceful and therapeutic environment which can offer service users a broad range of therapies including CAT, CBT, Schema Therapy, EMDR & DBT.
The Opportunity...
The Head of Psychology will provide consultation to ward psychologists working with clients at the service who are leading on specialist psychological assessments, interpretation from psychological tests, semi-structured interviews, interventions, individual and group therapy. You will also consider potential risks and social needs of the client group, relevant to their diagnosis.
This role will be working as part of an established multi-disciplinary team (MDT) consisting of; Consultant Psychiatrists, Specialty Doctors, Occupational Therapy, Nurses and Health Care Support Workers. You will be expected to offer psychological insight and knowledge around the clinical area and provide consultation about the psychological care of the client group to staff, families and other agencies.
As a HCPC Registered Psychologist, you will have a pivotal role in the training and clinical supervision of Assistant Psychologists, Volunteers and Psychology Trainees/Students on site. You will also have involvement in audit, policy, service development along with the assessment and interpretation of outcomes.
You will have...
Essential:
A Doctorate Level Qualification (BPS route or equivalent) in Clinical or Forensic Psychology along with HCPC Registration.
Experience in a Lead / Senior / Head Psychologist role.
Inpatient experience within adult mental health / personality disorder and knowledge of psychological assessment, treatment and therapies.
The ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Desirable:
Trained / experienced in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) is highly desirable along with training and providing clinical supervision to other psychologists.

Requirements
Contracted hours: up to 40 per week, Monday to Friday.
Please note: successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
