A leading, well established SEN School in Wakefield is looking to appoint a SEN Teaching Assistant as part of their welcoming staff team. The purpose of your role within the school will be to provide essential and life changing support to their pupils with learning difficulties. The successful applicant will be required to assist the class teacher with children with profound and multiple learning difficulties and complex medical needs, supporting the students individually and in groups with core subjects, engaging with their work and keeping on task with their learning. The role may occasionally have aspects of personal care, supporting with life skills.

The role will include:
Providing assistance to the class teacher
To manage small groups of children independently
To work 1:1 with students to help develop their work
To support the general wellbeing of the students in the school
To monitor and evaluate pupils learning under the guidance of the teacher
To assist the teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place

Requirements:
SEN TA experience (or work with vulnerable children in another setting e.g. youth work)
A desire to encourage children to succeed
A caring, patient and calm personality
Ability to work with students with a variety of learning difficulties
Have an understanding of children with special needs
Be flexible in approach to education
