This firm value high levels of Client Service and are dedicated to proving the best possible service by maintaining strong relationships with long-standing clients.

Your new role
As an accounts and payroll assistant your time will be split between the two roles. Within the accounts/bookkeeping side, you will be using both computerised and manual records in the preparation of accounts and VAT returns for both incorporated and unincorporated businesses. You will also be responsible for providing bookkeeping services for a small number of clients using Cloud software. Whilst a s a payroll assistant you will be supporting the payroll manager in the delivery of payroll bureau services to clients. This will include responsibility for a small portfolio of clients, which will give you client-facing experience as you will be the second point of contact for these clients, behind the Partner.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have exposure to preparing accounts, processing payroll and preparing and submitting VAT returns online with HMRC. You will be eager to learn and develop new skills, and able to work well both independently and as part of a small dedicated team. Experience of software such as CCH, Xero, Freeagent, Sage One or similar online accounting packages would be beneficial. You will also be proficient with IRIS payroll or similar software and have experience of processing pension uploads from payroll software to online pension portals. You will need to be personable and friendly and able to fit in to the relaxed environment of the firm.

What you'll get in return
This is an opportunity for a less-experienced individual seeking development to join an established firm and work in a small supportive team, alongside the two firm Partners. You will gain study support if you are studying for your ACCA alongside a competitive package and 28 days holiday (with an extra 12 days allocated off for Christmas and New Year on top of this). Typical working hours are 9-5 Monday-Thursday and 9-4 on a Friday.
