As a Web Developer in Computing and Information Services, your main duties will include:

Provide management for the delivery of information support services.
Providing management for the delivery of high-quality database management and infrastructure support services across the University.
Support and facilitate a first-rate digital experience on a par with the best in the UK.
Providing advice and guidance on best development practice methods, processes and techniques.
Working alongside the Architecture Team to develop, design, and maintain an effective web based strategy.
Promoting and fostering positive and highly collaborative approaches to problem solving and project implementation, helping to motivate, mentor and coach project team members.
Acting as a point of contact for service colleagues and stakeholders to interpret and resolve complex infrastructure, architecture and technical problems.
Making decisions about the nature and level of problem solving, physical and analytical tools, techniques and protocols to deliver project and service objectives, providing advice and making recommendations for resolution as appropriate.
Collaborating with other specialists within the Service, regarding the use of web technologies, methods and standards to deliver integrity and support service delivery.
Contributing to the development of operational service activities to ensure excellence in the stakeholder experience.
Collecting and analysing stakeholder feedback to help define needs and requirements and the design and planning of database services.

As an experienced Web Developer, you should be able to demonstrate:

A degree level qualification or equivalent experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships both internally and externally.
A good knowledge of current web developments and standards.
Proven experience of front-end development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
Proven experience of scripting languages and web server technologies (for example, PHP, Node.js and others)
Experience of creating and maintaining complex relational databases.
Experience with version control and continuous integration/deployment.
Experience of Linux or UNIX, and MS Windows operating systems.
Experience of content management systems.
Experience of being able to network effectively and develop strong and productive working relationships.
An ability to think innovatively and come up with creative solutions.
Knowledge of and commitment to software development best practice including issue tracking, testing, documentation and version control.
You may also have:
An ITIL qualification such as ITIL Foundation, or demonstrable experience of working to a structured IT Service Management approach.
Experience of meeting requirements of Government and W3C accessibility guidelines.
Formal training in programming in a high-level language.
Experience of release and deployment management tools (e.g. version control, automated testing, etc)
