The Opportunity:

Supporting the IT Risk Manager, you will represent the Risk function within the QBE IT community in European Operations and, where appropriate, across the QBE Group. You will work closely with the IT Risk Manager and first line IT functions and Heads of Technology to add value to the business.

Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide analytical risk insights within IT to facilitate oversight and risk challenge to strategy, governance and operations to help the business achieve the desired outcomes.
  • Support the first line IT teams with identifying, assessing, managing and reporting risk events and issues, including addressing root cause analysis
  • Engage with the business to support the roll out of risk and control self-assessments, providing risk management training where appropriate
  • Prepare business-as-usual and ad-hoc Board, Committee and occasional reports with a focus on IT risks.
  • Deputise for the IT Risk Manager where appropriate by attending various IT forums, and working with stakeholders to understand IT challenges and control frameworks and offer solutions to help strengthen these.
  • Oversee and verify resolution of reported IT risk events and challenge assessments of risks and controls.
  • Liaise closely with counterparts across the QBE Group (e.g. GHO Risk team).

You will need to be able to display the following qualifications or experience:

  • Good technical knowledge of operational IT issues relevant to a large FI and analytical skills to enable challenge of risk approaches across operations, architecture and governance from a risk perspective.
  • Ability to support greater IT operational resilience and information security
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and influence the positive development of IT risk management approaches and governance with colleagues in the 1st line.
  • Tenacious in driving change activity within the business.
  • Curious attitude, with the ability to challenge the "norm" and have a view of future improvements we can make as a business.
  • Good understanding of general insurance products and risk concepts.
