WORKING HOURS: Full Time - 5 days per week with occasional Saturdays on a shared rota basis (No Sundays)

THE COMPANY: Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) are truly are a life-saving Charity kept airborne thanks to everyone who plays our Lottery, makes a donation, enjoys our events, fundraises and volunteers or visits one of the local charity shops in aid of EHAAT.

We now have a new exiting opportunity for someone who has experience managing and leading a team of staff, and experience in retail or customer service to join our high street charity shop in Eastwood (Southend-on-Sea), Essex. There is also an opportunity at our store in West Mersea, Essex.

As a Shop Manager / Store Manager you will be an ambassador for the charity on the high street; raising vital funds for the charity. You will be pivotal in empowering and leading a team of volunteers to engage with the local community and to maximise the gift of income from donors and will manage and co-ordinate all activities, aspects and the smooth running of their shop.

Key Duties for the Shop Manager / Store Manager role :-

Act as liaison between the Charity shop and the Charity office on a regular basis and attend staff and retail meetings
Ensure the shop lay out is kept to a high standard, displaying high quality items in an attractive manner, in order to increase revenue
Coordinate weekly rotas, lead and motivate a team of volunteers and ensure donations are sorted through
Manage pricing and other commercial elements of the store
Train new volunteers and new recruits, whilst ensuring they are aware of the aims and ethos of the Trust
Working closely with the Facilities Manager, ensure you comply with all Health & Safety Legislation relating to the welfare and safety of volunteers and the operation of the shop and all items sold
Bank daily shop takings and communicate this amount to the shop volunteers and dispatch weekly till receipts to Head Office
Ensure all areas of the shop including the stockrooms, kitchen area and toilet are kept clean and tidy at all times

THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the Shop Manager / Store Manager will need to have experience leading or managing a team of staff or volunteers as well as previous customer service or retail experience. You will need to have good numeracy and written communication skills and will need to be physically fit and able to carry heavy items such as bags of donations. Most importantly, you should be someone who is enthusiastic, organised, enjoys taking a hands on approach to work and someone who is compassionate and empathetic towards people and The Trusts aims and mission. You will also need to be able to take a flexible approach as this role will require you to work 5 days a week which would include Saturdays on a shared rota basis. Candidates will also need to live within commutable distance to Eastwood (Southend-on-Sea), Essex.

Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Shop Manager / Store Manager role :-

Previous experience leading or managing a team of staff or volunteers essential
Will need previous customer service or retail experience
Strong communication skills are essential
Flexibility in the hours you can work including occasional Saturdays
Although not essential, previous experience within a third sector or charitable organisation would be beneficial
Will need to live within commutable distance to Eastwood (Southend-on-Sea), Essex.
