Becoming a Network Project Team Leader with Capita IT and Networking

Due to an internal promotion Capita IT & Networks Project delivery team have a new role for Team leader to manage a team of Network Project Engineers and TDA's. This role will encompass some hands on project delivery as well as leading, motivating and being an escalation point for the rest of the team.

We are open on location for this role. The team are based remotely across the UK, although ideally based around the Midlands to the South.

It would suit a Senior/Principal Network Engineer, or Network TDA who might be looking to step into more of a management role.

What you will do:
  • Manage, motivate and lead a team of Network Engineers, TDA's, including appraisals, PDR's, training, motivating and being an escalation point for problems
  • Requirements gathering and network systems specification;
  • High and Low Level network design in accordance with best practice and defined standards;
  • Regular liaison with assigned project managers to ensure clear and defined scopes of work and accurate, achievable project milestones and tasks;
  • Regular liaison with the resource scheduler to ensure best use of skills and time;
  • Implementation of network systems in accordance with the design and/or requirements, and in accordance with standard change control procedures;
  • To implement, configure, test and install new or existing network equipment as specified, in accordance with the systems specification documentation, departmental procedures and/or the installation instructions as defined in the manufacturer's manuals and bulletins, taking full responsibility for the implementation on the customers' site;
  • Full technical ownership and responsibility for network deliverables of assigned projects;
  • Full ownership and responsibility for project handover into support, using the standard OAIS (Operational Acceptance Into Service) process;
  • To complete all configuration details and documentation in order to provide an accurate record of the systems installed;

Your experience will include:
  • Have a strong networking background and be Cisco certified (CCNP minimum). Cloud experience highly advantageous.
  • Have a good understanding of project and programme delivery and experience in working in complex corporate environments.
  • Be customer-focused with excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Be people-focused with the ability to inspire and motivate - previous team lead/people management experience preferable.
  • Be able to work under pressure and deal with escalations and rapid business change.
  • Be a morale builder. Have a positive and infectious attitude and a willingness to contribute.
  • Be proactive.
  • Be enthusiastic and energetic and willing to drive the team's (and their own) personal development and growth agendas.
