New Product Development Manager - Maternity Leave Cover

We are looking to recruit a NPD Manager to join our Marketing team on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave initially, however there maybe an opportunity for a permanent role in the near future. This role will see the successful individual oversee the development of a specific category of products from brief through to launch. You will use your creativity, industry knowledge and consumer insights and excellent project management skills to deliver this.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project management of products from receiving brief at Gate 1, to launch
  • Drive the development & delivery of multiple product projects from concept to launch via cross-functional teams, with overall management of the product from Gate 2 to Gate 4
  • Working with the Marketing Manager, Buyer and Category and Insights Manager, to ensure effective product range management (including range rationalisation and identification of gaps within the range)
  • Ensure on time delivery, within budget, meeting customer needs and business targets to deliver business budgeted sales & margin growth aspirations
  • Efficient and accurate product costing demonstrating financial awareness and understanding in addition to good internal communication
  • Working with the technical and design teams, ensure the products are right for the UK market - legally and technically compliant
  • Complete relevant review of the competitor products to ensure strength of offering
  • Working with the wider Marketing ensure products are delivering to original brief and in line with UK insight to ensure successful selling story to the trade. (this may involve product testing and validation)

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of project management ideally within a similar role previously. As well as being organised in your approach you should have great communication skills and be comfortable communicating at all levels of an organisation. You should be analytical in your approach as well as have good commercial awareness. Experience within he FMCG sector previously would be advantageous but not necessary.
