PAYROLL & HR Admin Assistant for growing retailer

Location: Central London

Salary: £24-27k

Main Responsibilities:

Payroll admin
*Understand the HMRC rules surrounding payroll processing and run payroll in absence of the Payroll Manager
*Ensure that all payroll-related information, including increases and deductions is calculated, recorded and processed accurately and promptly in accordance with the relevant legislation / guidelines
*Respond professionally to queries from staff at all levels, communicating clearly and effectively, and providing high quality advice on payroll-related matters
*Deal with payroll, pension and benefit queries
*Keep up to date with changes in legislation affecting payroll, as well as HMRC rules and processes
*Manage and maintain high levels of service, while maintaining strict confidentiality on all salary-related matters
*Check all timesheets are authorized each week
*Export worked hours from time & attendance system
*Ensure all new starters are set up on the system
*Support the inputting of new staff on HR System
*Process change of contract forms (including letters).
*Process and distribute payroll correspondence including P45 to leavers (mail merging)
*Support the monthly payroll reporting, year-end reporting and P11D

*Support the Office/HR Administrator in general Head Office/ HR administration when needed
*Ensure all personal and confidential employee data is current, processed and stored as per the Data Protection regulations

Experience and skills:

*Relevant experience preferably within a retail or hospitality Head Office
*Demonstrable experience in lifecycle payroll activities and processing monthly payroll
*Good understanding of UK payroll-related legislation and statutory requirements, including PAYE and other deductions and HMRC rules
*Proficient user of Microsoft programs (Microsoft Excel intermediate level, Word, Outlook)
*High level of numeracy skills, integrity and confidentiality essential
*Self-motivated, able to work independently and proactively without direction, and as part of a team
*Flexible and adaptable in approach to work, with the ability to multi-task
*Good problem-solving and communication skills
*Highly organised with the ability to plan and prioritise
*Structured and logical thinking
*Payroll requirements must be completed within deadlines (sometimes requiring working outside of core hours), particularly with regard to implementation of salary increases, early pre-Christmas cut off and end-of-year returns and reporting.
