Job DescriptionJob Specification:An exciting opportunity has arisen in Airbus Filton as an Engineering Project Leader within Landing Gear R&T commercial division. This role is responsible for operational and technical leadership of all Landing Gear system activities within an R&T project, ensuring the project to delivers on time, cost & quality.Reporting to the Head of Landing Gear Research & Technology and operationally linked to Airbus R&T (CTO) the role of the Landing Gear R&T Project Leader is also to seek, scope and drive new technological breakthroughs that can contribute and shape the future of Landing Gear systems and Aircraft.About us: We are a diverse, entrepreneurial and self-empowered team working in an exciting and dynamic environment delivering innovation to existing and future landing gear systems. It offers a unique set of system, equipment and structure that consist of physical and functional design elements.This position offer the opportunity to develop multidisciplinary skills by working on the following subjects:LG structure architectureLG equipment developmentLG system architecture and designOverall aircraft designLoads & PerformanceWheels, Tyres & BrakesExtension & RetractionMonitoringBraking, Steering & ControlModelling & SimulationWhat you will be doing: Identify, scope and delivery of projects that are linked to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Roadmaps, product development plans and contribute to the Landing Gear technology, product and business strategies.Management and leadership of tasks and projects on time, quality and costLiaise, co-ordinate and work with other Airbus Centres plus potentially other Airbus divisions (e.g. Helicopters, Space & Defence) to deliver the solutions.Integration of the solutions within the Landing Gear System as well as other systems and structure of the Aircraft.Lead and manage the Landing Gear Systems, Equipment and Extended Enterprise Suppliers.Provide technical leadership.Identify and work with new collaborators including non-industrial partners e.g. Research institutes and academia to seek, scope and deliver solutionsIdentify potential customers and pitch ideas to gain support and funding.Management and co-ordination of Milestone and Technology Readiness Reviews including Process Assurance.Actively identify risk, opportunities and mitigations.Adherence to Airbus Processes & Procedures with a continuous improvement mind-set.For this role, we are open to discussing the possibility of reduced hours, remote working, flexible start and finish times.
