An exciting opportunity not to be missed! Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) is looking for a Lead Policy & Research Analyst to join our team based in Cheltenham . You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return you will receive a highly competitive salary of £29,370 - £40,000 per annum! About Us: HESA exists to advance education by collecting, analysing and disseminating data about the UK higher education sector. The Lead Policy & Research Analyst role: We are looking for a Lead Policy & Research Analyst to lead on investigating and analysing trends in policy, research, and public opinion on higher education, in order to make recommendations on, and to directly support, HESA's research, development, and publication priorities. Key responsibilities include: - Compile and maintain a shared database of literature, data sources, and knowledge about higher education policy to support HESA's horizon-scanning and research - Undertake investigations aiming to deepen or broaden HESA's organizational knowledge in defined areas of interest. - Analyse the suitability of data sources (including their access arrangements) to meet policy or research objectives; and contributing to the documentation, assurance, integration, classification, re-coding, and the derivation of variables. - Write-up and/or present findings in a range of formats suitable for different audiences, including reports, horizon scans, and blog posts, but also face-to-face to audiences of varying size (or to video) adapting tone and style to suit. - Assist other members of the team by reviewing, editing, and writing collaboratively. - Supporting the effective management and administration of research and development projects by undertaking such tasks as drafting project documentation, setting-up and maintaining project files, organising meetings and liaising with stakeholders, and reporting on progress. - Maintain and develop skills in a broad range of investigative and analytical techniques, including quantitative and qualitative research methods. - Extract, prepare, and peer review datasets. - Advising, supporting, and working collaboratively with colleagues across the Agency on matters relating to the post-holder's own professional or methodological expertise - Support the Head of Team in the definition and implementation of a suite of data policies aimed at delivering outputs that are deemed trustworthy, of high quality, and valuable, by users. Essential skills & experience of our Lead Policy & Research Analyst: - Educated to Masters degree level in a subject containing a high proportion of mixed methods social science research, or equivalent experience and a Bachelors degree - Strong knowledge of the policy environment in higher education, as well as an ability to ascertain the key issues and challenges facing the sector in future years. - Experience of working with quantitative data - Experience of writing different types of outputs ( short think pieces, long reports, blogs etc.) in an engaging manner, as well as presenting orally to a range of audiences. - Listen and assimilate information and convey complex information clearly both orally and in writing to varied audiences Benefits of becoming our Lead Policy & Research Analyst: HESA's bright and modern offices are right in the heart of Cheltenham, situated on the Promenade - the proximity to the shops, cafes and bars make this an attractive location and provide opportunities for socialising.
