Year 5 Teacher - Blackburn Primary School

A school on the outskirts of Blackburn have approached Teaching Personnel as a recruitment partner in order to source and appoint a Year 5 class teacher. The class teacher will be expected to take the class for the first half term covering a staff absence in the KS2 department. The Deputy Head teacher who deals with all the staffing issues and supply in school contacted the agency and left the following teacher specification;

'Qualified and experienced class teacher with recent KS2 experience, particularly in UKS2.'

'Strong behaviour management and preferably someone who can work with the SLT to consistently implement the behaviour policy.'

'A friendly and approachable person who will build good relationships with the staff and the parents in school.'

'A practitioner who is able to plan and deliver fun and engaging lessons which enthuse the children and guarantee progress.'

This is an exciting opportunity as the role is more than likely to continue on a temp to perm basis depending on the health of the teacher currently off sick. The said school is currently improving and working as a staffing team to improve teaching and learning opportunities for the children. The Head teacher is experienced and well respected in the local area; it has been noted that she is friendly and approachable and all the staff enjoy working in the school environment.

The children in the Year 5 class are considered to be 'challenging' and so it is important that the applying candidates are able to manage children with varying special educational needs as well as social emotional and mental health needs. It would be preferred if you have previously worked in a school with challenging behaviour. Academically, the children in the class are working below age related levels and below the National Average for Maths and Writing. There are plans for the class to have a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work permanently with a number of individual and small groups. This will provide good quality support for the children directly and for the class teacher.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
