Head of Purchasing:

A brand new Head of Purchasing role has come up in the Gloucestershire area for a leading services company who are looking to strengthen their purchasing function and join their growing team of 200 plus employees on their site in Gloucester.

The individual needs to hold a strong purchasing/procurement background, ideally within the manufacturing/service provider background.

The purpose of this role is to develop the overarching purchasing strategy and to lead a high-performance purchasing team that manages and nurtures supplier relationships in a manner that enhances the brand.

Head of Purchasing Responsibilities:
  • Carrying out market analysis
  • Negotiating and setting up contracts, and ensuring all contracts are embedded internally
  • Monitoring and reporting suppliers performance
  • Preparing annual budgets
  • Develop purchasing target proposals
  • Manage the purchasing targets
  • Understand global, regional and local business environment
  • Manage and support the local purchasing team (Commodity Managers, Project Purchasers, Operative Purchasers)
  • Applying and further developing Purchasing Guide
  • Ensuring alignment, optimization and result across the business
  • Liaising closely with business leaders and other key stakeholders in the UK and EMEA, the Head of Procurement will support and coordinate opportunities within Operations to deliver savings. This will include identifying market levers and formulating an improvement strategy for risk, innovation and cost.

Head of Purchasing Specification:
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in a "hands on" procurement role.
  • Be commercially astute and a strong negotiator, with the confidence and ability to influence and challenge others
  • Have proven experience in Risk Management, Total Cost Reduction across all categories and improved Trade Payables
  • Be results orientated and have a focus on understanding and implementing strategies
  • CIPS certified - desirable
  • Experience of managing a team - desirable
